A police cruiser damaged in a chase through Waterloo Region...
CAMBRIDGE – Two police cruisers were damaged and an officer suffered minor injuries in a chase Saturday involving a stolen SUV from the Hamilton area.
A 16-year-old Cambridge teen faces numerous charges – including theft, dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident – after he was finally arrested shortly after 8 p.m.
The incident began when Waterloo Regional Police got information about the stolen vehicle being driven around in the Kitchener area around 5 p.m.
Officers spotted it at a gas station on King Street East near Sportsworld about three hours later, but the SUV rammed a cruiser when they tried to stop it from leaving.
The vehicle collided with a second cruiser as it sped away, triggering a chase that ended without further incident on Blair Road in Cambridge.
The injured officer was treated at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and released.
